New Visions

Expanding Care, Questioning Relations

New Visions is a living anthology, a love letter to those who have felt unheard or unrepresented within reproductive justice spaces.

This first iteration features submissions by Forward Together’s brilliant cultural workers exploring the themes of family definition and abolition. We invite you to imagine something else entirely when it comes to the concept of family—to see the overlap between QTBIPOC communities and liberation for us all. We revisit the fourth tenant of Reproductive Justice; the ability to raise our families in a safe and healthy environment, to complicate the nuclear family concept as a way to control access to care and belonging. We separate care from the capitalist limitations of the nuclear family and expand the meaning of kinship and belonging to include the ways people organically form connection beyond biology.

Since the original A New Vision for Advancing Our Movement for Reproductive Health, Reproductive Rights and Reproductive Justice paper was published twenty years ago, Forward Together has developed our analysis to foreground the reproductive oppression, power, and possibilities of QTBIPOC people. We hope this offering is a refuge of thought in a world of growing disinformation.
