Job Announcement: Digital Coordinator

Reports to: Communications & Digital Strategy Director

Classification: Full-time, Permanent, Non-Exempt, At-Will

Location: Remote, anywhere within the United States (outside the United States will be considered if feasible for the organization); Interviews for this position will be conducted via Zoom.

Office Hours: Monday – Thursday, 32 hours a week. Start and end times are flexible, but must be able to attend predetermined team and staff meetings. 

Salary Range: $66,780 – $72,080 annually. The salary range is determined by Forward Together’s salary equity structure. Salary offers will only be made within this range. 

Benefits: Benefits are generous, with fully paid employee and dependent coverage for health, vision, and dental; and long-term disability insurance. Paid time off includes sick days, vacation, holidays and wellness days. In addition, we close our offices for two weeks in December.

This is a union position with Forward Together Workers United (FTWU), a bargaining unit represented by CWA Local 9415.

FORWARD TOGETHER ACTION was started in November 2019 to change the way the political game is played. As one the few 501c4 Reproductive Justice organizations led by women of color, we seek to build power through policy advocacy and the political process so that families can thrive.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Digital Coordinator reports to the Communications & Digital Strategy Director and is responsible for supporting and implementing digital campaigns to further Forward Together & Forward Together Action’s movement building, cultural strategy, power building and fundraising goals.

In collaboration with various teams, the Digital Coordinator will build, engage and activate our base of digital supporters through storytelling and digital actions via our email list, social media channels and websites.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Implement digital campaign tactics to increase FT/FTA visibility, engage supporters and build power for our communities, including:

  1. Digital Advocacy & Organizing
  • Writing and editing email campaigns that get opens, clicks, conversions and contributions
  • Developing email campaigns that engage our supporters in cultural strategy projects that feature art, storytelling, and other art mediums in collaboration and coordination with the organization’s movement building and cultural strategy initiatives.
  • Crafting advocacy emails at the state and national level that inspire our supporters to take action.
  • Support the writing and editing of fundraising emails to build our base of donors and sustainers, in collaboration with our Development team. 
  • Writing effective copy and finding images for advocacy, action, donation pages and event pages
  • Use digital advocacy platform (EveryAction) to create targeted lists, emails, action pages, donation pages and event pages
  1. Digital Content Creation & Management
  • Creating copy and creatives for digital ads related to list-building, advocacy and cultural work
  • Creating and updating content for our website and microsites
  • Developing creatives for use in emails & social using Canva or similar apps.
  • Assist with accessibility audit and implement best practices to continuously improve email, website and social media accessibility
  • Follow our QA processes to thoroughly review and finalize emails, forms, webpages and social media content
  1. General Communications Support
  • Use our project management system to track, collaborate and update teams on digital projects
  • Assist with and provide creative input into the development of new digital projects, tactics and opportunities
  • Assist with and support virtual events in coordination with program and communication teams
  • Work closely with the Data Strategist to deeply understand the Forward Together community using analytics.
  • Stay on top of the latest digital trends and uses them to amplify Forward Together’s work
  • Attend and occasionally lead team meetings
  • Works closely with Social Media Strategist to understand what culture shifts are happening online and how to capture those moments in emails and across the websites
  • Works closely with media strategist to co-manage editorial calendar

OTHER DUTIES

  • Adheres to organizational values and practices around challenging oppression by exhibiting behaviors indicating inclusion and respect in all facets of the work (programmatic, operational, and interpersonal)
  • Maintains and updates contact information in the Forward Together CRM for the individuals and
  • Actively participates in all-staff meetings, learning sessions and quarterly strategy/evaluation sessions.
  • Participates in organization embodiment practices to the extent of physical ability.
  • Participates in al-staff grassroots fundraising activities as applicable
  • Utilizes direct communication and pro-active problem solving to address internal organizational challenges and disagreements. 
  • Works pro-actively and in good faith as a member of the staff team to support and strengthen the overall stability and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Vendor and consultant management as needed.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to collaborate with communications and program teams in the development of creative and effective digital campaigns.
  • Expertise in writing engaging email messages related to cultural strategy and advocacy projects.
  • Ability to write, edit and optimize copy for social media and email.
  • Knowledge of the ethical use of stories gathered from community leaders.
  • Knowledge of EveryAction or similar CRM and the ability to load and update campaign emails and action pages.
  • Must have significant experience working in communities of color, trans and queer communities and those at the intersections.
  • Experience in supporting online fundraising campaigns.
  • Identify new tactics and opportunities to reach and engage supporters. 

QUALIFICATIONS

    • A commitment to Forward Together’s mission, values and the communities we work within
    • 3+ years of experience writing and developing email campaigns to grow and engage a significant base of supporters
    • 3+ years of experience with EveryAction or similar CRM
    • 3+ years of experience working in communities at the intersection of race, gender, ability, class and sexuality
    • 2+ years of experience working with digital ad platforms
    • A creative and innovative approach to digital tactics with an understanding of the importance of testing and experimentation
    • Attention to detail and accuracy, especially in writing, copy-editing and organizational data conventions
    • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize different projects
    • Strong project management and problem-solving skills  
    • Ability to work well in teams and use direct communication to express needs and give and receive feedback
    • Sophisticated understanding of the structures through which race, gender, class, sexual orientation, religion, ability, and other axes of identity function to unjustly distribute power and oppress some in our society. Experience working with BIPOC, queer, trans and gender nonconforming communities is essential.

  • Technical support and a monthly stipend will be provided for internet and cell phone use.
  • Employees must attend mandatory staff retreats which take place in person, virtually and in hybrid formats, based upon the safety and access needs of participants.
    • If in person, retreat location may be inside or outside, and the noise level may range from quiet to loud.
    • During in-person retreats, an option for virtual participation will also be offered as needed for accessibility.
  • Virtual meetings, retreats and events include auto-generated captions using Zoom or Google.
